Trail Days - Mammoth Lakes Trail System - 2016 Summer of Stewardship - September 17

Summer’s coming to a close and there’s a hint of Fall in the air so it’s time to free up a couple of hours and help clean up the Mammoth Lakes Basin!  For the last several years, the Mammoth Lakes Trail System has coordinated with the Sierra Nevada Conservancy’s Great Sierra River Cleanup to cleanup and give back to our community’s namesake, the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Please join our co-hosts the Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski Association and the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce at the Horseshoe Lake parking lot at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 for the final Summer of Stewardship Trails Day Event of 2016

A free bagel breakfast brought to you by Old New York Deli, along with a safety talk and work assignments will kick things off at 8:30 – volunteer efforts will focus on trash and cleanup efforts throughout the Lakes Basin. Volunteers always get an introduction to trail maintenance techniques as part of Trail Days events. Those interested in being regular members of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System stewardship team should be sure to show up on September 17 to get trained up for future SOS projects.

A free gourmet lunch – brought to you by Sunrise Rotary and Bleu Handcrafted Foods – will cap off your day of cleanup efforts, along with lots of raffle prizes and free giveaways. All ages and abilities are welcome, and we love to see families, user groups, and local clubs as well. Please arrive dressed for trail work (long pants, sun protection, sturdy close-toed shoes), and don’t worry if you can’t make it right at 8:30; we can check you in and send you off to a task in progress just about any time before 10:30 a.m.

Trail Days are made possible by the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Inyo National Forest, Mammoth Lakes Recreation, and Mammoth’s own Measure R! Thanks to KMMT Radio for providing some priceless extra airtime to let everybody in on the fun. Close-toed shoes and long pants required; please carpool if you can. Visit mltpa.org for event details or call (760) 914-1769 to speak with me - Joel Rathje, the Mammoth Lakes Trail System Trails Coordinator.

Fall’s on the way and we all know what’s up next – (!!!) We’ll see you Saturday, September 17 at 8:30 AM at the Horseshoe Lake parking lot – thanks!
